One Building At A Time
Our family, like families all over the country, has been struggling with dealing with COVID-19 while at the same time supporting groups and organizations addressing the need for systemic change. We asked ourselves, what can we do to help besides just being supportive?
We looked in our immediate neighborhood and realized we could help make positive change, one building at a time. Our family seeks to help make all neighborhoods of Chicago come back alive with pride through installing murals instead of graffiti.
We love the murals of Chicago, we love the street art scene but know that unwanted graffiti detracts from a positive feel that make Chicago neighborhoods so special. We created the Chicago Mural Project with the simple goal of painting and beautifying unused space in our neighborhood.
While staying close to home during the pandemic, we realized on our walks in the neighborhood that art was missing from the landscape. We noticed a lack of vibrant colors among the brick buildings. We noticed graffiti popping up and we decided in our own small way to try to change that, one mural at a time.
We work with local building owners and artists to collaborate on images the neighborhood will enjoy. Now, we aim to do the same with buildings all around Chicago while helping local artists deliver their visions to help all communities..
We strive to connect aspiring artists with property owners to create murals in public spaces to help beautify neighborhoods across Chicago. We endeavor to provide communities with positive images that help promote uplifting messages that everyone can be proud of.
